Christmas Cards & Stuff :-)

I got so caught up in trying to figure what kind of cards I would make this year but in the end, I didnt send out anything. Ugh! I just ran out of time. I really need to learn how to manage my time and STAY FOCUSED! I did a few cards that I plan to either hand out or add to their gifts.

Here's a card for my Pilates instructor

SST Christmas and Countdown to the New Year Blog Hop!

Wow! My 1st ever blog hop! This one was organized by Nubian & Stampin Dymonz from the Sistas Scrap Too Cricut Thread. The divas of over there came together and created a Christmas and Countdown to the New Year blog hop! And I'm happy to be a part of the fun. Here is my project.

I used the Winter Frolic cartridge for "Tis The Season". The deer is an outline sticker I colored. I love those outline stickers! They are gorgeous and very easy to use. Click here if you would like to see some of the other designs....I confess, I've bought all of them :-)

Here is my submission for this week's Platinum Scraps Challenge. This is my Cocker Spaniel, Shadow. Every so often we give in to giving him a bath. I much rather take him to the groomer (less mess) but we do a better job and I think he rather us do it anyway. This isn't a great picture; I bought a new camera and I really don't like it....Maybe Santa will hook a sista up - I think I was a overall good girl this year :-) TFL...

My Baby Girl

I normally don't post pics of my family but my heart is filled with such pride and joy, that I wanted to share this moment. I showed you the postcard I did for my daughter while she was away at Basic Training - well she graduated on Friday and I attended the ceremony in San Antonio.

To say that I'm proud of her is a gross understatement. As I'm typing this, my eyes are filled with tears of happiness. She's my first born and seeing her in uniform made me realize that she's a woman now who I'll have to let go and let grow. Wow! This will be way more difficult for me, I think, than her. But I know in time it will get easier. It has to because I can't walk around crying all the time.....people will think I'm crazy. :-)

My Sleepy Superhero

Platinum Scraps had a color challenge this week. I used pictures of my angel in last year's Halloween outfit. I was all ready to take her out and she fell asleep on me! The skyline is from the Cricut Sampler and Super Woman is a SCAL cut. Check out some of the other creations over on PS TFL....

The Fix It Guy

Earlier this month Platinum Scraps had a challenge to use Basic Grey's Vagabond paper in a layout. I used pictures of my dusty hubby for this layout. All the cuts are from the Handy Man cartridge.

Postcards

Hello Everyone!

These last few weeks have been filled with ups & downs and thus, my hobby took a back seat. I'm trying to get back into doing a few things but (sigh) it's been tough! Any who.....a special day came over the summer....my baby girl followed her mother's footsteps and enlisted into the Air Force! Ok, she's 20 years old but she'll always be my baby girl.... and I'm so proud of her! I sent her a card each week and here's one of them. The butterfly is a cut from the Serenade cart using the packaging the cartridges came in. Here's the tutorial I did back in April.

I also made one for someone else in her flight. They both graduate from Basic Training on Friday so I'll be in San Antonio with camera in hand :-)

Get Well Soon

One of my PS sisters found out that her son's friend was involved in a terrible car accident. He survived but will be in therapy for awhile. I decided to make a card for him. I hate to see or hear about children in any kind of pain. It just tugs at my heart.

Chocolate Armor

When members retire from the military, spouses get an award too. This layout has pics of me giving my Hubby his award. He is my knight in chocolate armor :-)

I think I'm Gonna Do It

Ever since I got out the military in'08, I tossed around the idea of getting dreads. I was tired of relaxing and flat ironing my hair. Plus, hair stylists are expensive in the DMV area (compared the $20 Dominicans in NYC). Well, the idea quickly got tossed out the window when Hubby gave me the "You must be crazy" look. Since then I've tried twists, braids & weaves. Though they were cute, they didn’t last because of my hair length. One of my girlfriends turned to sister locs back in '05 and at first, I didn’t like them. Now, 5 years later, they are gorgeous! So I went back to the Jury (Hubby & 3 kids) to plead my case....well, I actually texted them...I figured the blow would be softer. It was a split decision - Hubby, yes & daughter, no (the other two were boys and they didn’t care). I thought I would have to battle him but it was actually my daughter's vote I had to fight for. Well after I showed her some pics and You Tube videos, I got her vote! So I've officially began my quest for sister locs. I've had natural hair for about a year so I'm not cutting anything but I'm starting with two strand twists. My girlfriends (who are also locticians) thought that it would be a good to start with these just to make sure that this is something I want to do. Here are some pics:

NubianlockedPrincess, Curloc & all you beautiful dreaded ladies out there....let me know feel..should I take the plunge? Natural & relaxed ladies, I want to hear from you too....

Gone Too Soon

Here is my submission for this week's Platinum Scraps Challenge. I recently lost my nephew who ran out into the street and was hit by a car. The sudden death of a loved one is hard to bear - but when it's a child it's unimagineable. I'm glad to have scrapping to help me cope with my thoughts and sorrow.
